ARTIST BIO
Hila Mrad is an Israeli painter living in Berlin.
Her work investigates the precise moments when things fall apart and life shifts without warning, exploring how disruption can serve as a catalyst for compassion and hope.Since the events of October 7, 2023, her artistic response has focused on the collective experience of crisis and loss, driven by a need to spark renewed dialogue.
Hila earned a diploma in Animation from Tel Hai Academic College (2013–2015) and studied Advanced Digital Drawing and Print Design at the Israeli Animation College (2016–2017). In March 2025, she completed a residency in the BAI Studio Program at the Berlin Art Institute.
Her work has been shown internationally: she received the Mayor’s Prize at the 37th Kyoto Art Festival (December 2023), returned for the 38th Festival (October 2024), and held a solo exhibition at Café Gallery CasBa in Tel Aviv (June 2024).
In October 2025, she will participate in the 11th Geoje International Art Festival in South Korea and in the 39th Kyoto Art Festival. Through layered brushwork and fragmented forms, Hila translates emotional tremors into a visual dialogue of resilience and renewed possibility.
